Toilet paper Anyone?

Disasters, even impending ones, seems to turn us into hoarders.  Sometimes all the preparations and concerns are legit and other times we must shake our head and chuckle on our worries. Remember, Y2K?  The worry, the talks of impending dooms and how world was going to turn Topsy-Turvy on January 1, 2000?  Remember, how the Sun still shined, and societies kept on going without any glitch? On the other hand, if you live in Florida, preparations during hurricane season is a way of life. The worried, hurried evacuees of Florida in 2019 was no small matter. Those people prepared, got their stuff together and yet had to flee their homes as it was going underwater.

Yes, the loss of lives, income and disruption to day to day lives as a direct result of COVID-19 is real. Everyone wants to make sure that in case of quarantine or major shutdowns, they will have enough resources to carry on. The shelves in supermarkets are getting spare and hoarding of necessity items is going on full force. Let us not even talk about price gauging and worry about families stuck abroad. My only hope is just like in movies, we will find a cure in days, and life will get back to normal soon.

Until then, did you make sure to buy enough milk to last for the impending quarantine? What about toilet paper & water?

  1. As I walked into Costco to get a birthday cake, a man at the door was holding a sign that said just about those exact words.
