Slice of Life
Work & Joy
I need to complete the genogram and write a case conceptualization, Easy? Breezy? May be. But it is taking me a LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLooonnnggggggggggg time. I spent the week synthesizing material, worked on it several hours yesterday and today….., I realize I had misread the directions. Though I will be able to use most of the material, I will need to redo a big chunk of paper. Back to board we go. As I am trying to complete the assignment before clock strikes last bell of midnight, words of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai comes to mind.
hmmmm! Wiser words were never spoken.
Here we start again!

How R you?
How are you doing?
Did you smile at a kid today?
How about the one in mirror?
Wait in a line today? Why?
Picked up a phone to say hi?
Or bring some goodies to home bound?
How are you today?
Choose to believe.
We are stronger than this.
Work from home if you can.
Lose some income? Please lean on.
Try to stay sane.
This to shall pass.
Stay calm.
This too shall pass.
We are here
to Remain. Strong. Together. Alive.

What’s in a Name? You Ask.
What is in a name? You ask.
Not much and everything.
Is it the hill I want to die on?
Is the the reason I want to dig my heel in?
Would it have made a difference for Herman?
Would he have fame?
Would he have enjoyed the riches?
And not died heartbroken, a dockworker, a layman
an not so famous author?
If he had only chosen to name his narrator
Tito, Jimmy, John or Alex rather than Ishmael
?????
for Moby Dick?
Go ahead
Call me Corvette, not Purvi
TrIII ve DDDa not Trivedi
Call me Zaa EM ba, not Ziemba
Scramble up my name,
Call me a maa’m,
At end of the day,
I will remain the same.
But really,
would it be too much to ask
that you call me Purviben?

Toilet paper Anyone?
Disasters, even impending ones, seems to turn us into hoarders. Sometimes all the preparations and concerns are legit and other times we must shake our head and chuckle on our worries. Remember, Y2K? The worry, the talks of impending dooms and how world was going to turn Topsy-Turvy on January 1, 2000? Remember, how the Sun still shined, and societies kept on going without any glitch? On the other hand, if you live in Florida, preparations during hurricane season is a way of life. The worried, hurried evacuees of Florida in 2019 was no small matter. Those people prepared, got their stuff together and yet had to flee their homes as it was going underwater.
Yes, the loss of lives, income and disruption to day to day lives as a direct result of COVID-19 is real. Everyone wants to make sure that in case of quarantine or major shutdowns, they will have enough resources to carry on. The shelves in supermarkets are getting spare and hoarding of necessity items is going on full force. Let us not even talk about price gauging and worry about families stuck abroad. My only hope is just like in movies, we will find a cure in days, and life will get back to normal soon.
Until then, did you make sure to buy enough milk to last for the impending quarantine? What about toilet paper & water?

Today is the day
Today is The Day to make a list and check it twice. Once I submit this week’s assignments, very first class of Marriage and family Therapy will be in the books. wow!
Today is the day to tackle the laundry and start a war on clutter.
Is today the day to go out and shop for more?
Would it be tacking Corona or hording more?
Today is the way to make decision.
Do I need to spend 2 hours browsing or spend it on whatever?
Today is the day for the family supper,
Today is definitely the day to cook the supper (and not the goose).
Today is the day to submit that paper
Today is the day to be me, just the version that is better.

Super Tuesday
Super Tuesday
A day when political future of many President wanna be is being decided by general population. Or is it, really?
For democratic party two female and two male candidates are still standing. But if we here media hype, we will not even know Tulsi Gabbard is in running. When pundits are discussing Biden & Bernie, Warren is mentioned in passing.
No, I will not call it a conspiracy or old white men’s ways to keep capable candidates away. I will call what it is. Apathy and inaction from general public, media’s greedy grab for TRP and …… .
Did you vote in primary? Are you looking forward to the general election?

Laundry
Laundry
Laundry. Never ending one task. I remember the time when my daughter was itty bitty and into changing clothes. I had to sit her down and explained that if she changes 5 outfits in a day, all of them does not need to go into wash.
Today, the washer was kid of quiet. When I went to do washer-dryer exchange, I realized, I had closed the lid but forgot to press start. Getting old anyone?

Sitting other side of the desk
Other Side of the Desk
I am going back to school for Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Sitting on other side of desk is….
Enjoyable
Exhilarating
Scary
Overwhelming
Hard work
Allow me to have study dates with my kids
Let my kids boss me around about need to stay on task 🙂
In nutshell, being on other side of the desk gives me a perspective from my kids, my students’, view. This week I have a quiz and 3 papers due, each 7-9 pages with at least 5 scholarly, peer reviewed references . (OK. It would have been two, if I had managed my time right and have earlier submission on time. Still working on time management.
I am learning so much, fast paced and enjoying every minute of it, OK almost every minute of it. Now, if I have this time management thing under control, then I will be rocking.

Tell me how?
I am only one.
There are all these classes,
Then the masses,
Training for games

How do I choose?
What I have to lose?
Where is the gain?

How do I know it?
Running from rain

Working, studying, playing,
How I am going to keep on going?
I am still a kid
and I feel a need
to scream and shout and get a hand out
Tell me,
How can I go on,
Why can’t I stop & breath.
Can’t life wait for me?
Will I waste it?
Will I make it?
Will you be proud of me?
Tell me.
Tell Me.
Tell ME
TELL ME.
TELl ME
TEll Me.
