Do you see the pan?

Slice of Life

I am writing this post for Slice of Life challenge hosted by  Two Writing Teachers .   On Tuesdays, we write about small moments in life that brings us greater joys, at times  sorrow and a meaning.  You are invited to join too.

We make homemade maple syrup by tapping the maple trees. It is a labor of love for Superman and our kids. We have found a gazillion ways to use the maple syrup. This winter, kids found one more way-making maple syrup taffy over fresh snow using the recipe from kitchn.

Since we live in Wisconsin, having snow in January is not a problem.  Now, where to put it is another story.  Yesterday, schools were closed due to winter storm warning.  As the snow started to fall hard, blanketing everything,  I put a pan out on the back porch.  The idea was to collect the snow in this pan & use the fresh snow for making maple taffy later. Today, after supper, we decided to retrieve the pan.  Open the door, grab the pan, pack the snow and drizzle on hot maple syrup.  Easy, ya?  There was only one itty, bitty, tiny hurdle.  Did you see the pan?  We can’t.  Opps!

Did you see the pan?

Dig some more.  Nope! No pan.  Maybe in the Spring when the snow is thawed, we may find the pan.

Peace & Joy (in having fun with family)
